HVAC Operations Manager

Summary

Oversees day-to-day maintenance operations including administrative and technical support for the university facilities department

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Implements repair initiatives to maintain quality control of vendor and in-house performed work
  • Provides technical administrative leadership and professional planning and scheduling duties to facilitate the execution of maintenance and repair tasks
  • Distributes work assignments, monitors progress and provides guidance, as needed, to other department staff
  • Performs daily system checks and prioritization of facilities system issues, including troubleshooting and corrective action determinations as it pertains to the standard repairs to control devices, Building Management System (BMS) administration and HVAC equipment
  • Provides support for control system and HVAC projects to maintain compliance and conformance with university's standards including interfacing with contractors on new or retrofit installations and repair
  • Develops short and long term strategies for replacement of mechanical systems
  • Manages inspection and maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration equipment and boilers including material procurement for repair
  • Assists in the equipment asset management process
  • Responds to work requests and facility emergencies promptly and effectively and provides support to HVAC staff
  • Performs building and machine room walk through to secure and support safe conditions for the university community
  • Monitors the departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Moderate amount of experience working in HVAC, BMS or in other related work
  • Journeyperson mechanical trade license
