Summary

Serves in a dual role as primary supervised experiential learning (SEL) coordinator and full-time core faculty member for the Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics program. Collaborates with the program director to provide students with a seamless, high-quality learning experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Core faculty with sufficient release time for administrative duties
  • Demonstrates specialized knowledge and maintains expertise in the theory, skills, and pedagogy of the applicable discipline or profession
  • Uses strategies and skills necessary to support student learning and prepares and delivers current and relevant course material in an understandable and motivating manner
  • Continually assesses course objectives and instructional methods to improve teaching and learning
  • Uses formative and summative assessments of student learning within assigned courses to inform instruction and improve student attainment of course objectives and program outcomes
  • Establishes a student and advisor relationship that provides guidance with regard to program choices and career possibilities and supports student educational growth through guided decision making
  • Supports the university's outcomes initiatives by working to refine and revise course assignments and evaluation tools and leading or participating in data analysis discussions to make program and course improvements
  • Facilitates development and revision of programs and courses, assuring alignment within the program description and outcomes, course objectives and content, as well as university curriculum standards
  • Attends commencement, convocation, faculty meetings, department meetings, committee meetings, professional development programs, and other university events, as applicable
  • Supports student enrollment and retention by participating in university events, advising student clubs and organizations, and assisting with admissions activities
  • Adheres to and fulfills the responsibilities of all faculty members as outlined in the Faculty Manual
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with new and existing supervised experiential learning sites consistent with the university and program mission
  • Maintains program compliance with standards set forth in the ACEND accreditation requirements, including advising SEL faculty, assisting with SEL curriculum and program development, maintaining student records, and communicating with faculty and students
  • Acts as primary liaison between the university and Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics students and supervised experiential learning sites
  • Develops, maintains and schedules supervised experiential learning rotations and makes necessary adjustments based on student and site needs
  • Visits supervised experiential learning sites periodically to assure continued efficacy of student placements
  • Collaborates with the program director, faculty and staff to provide successful supervised experiential learning outcomes in accordance with university and accreditation standards
  • Facilitates student supervised experiential learning placements and coordinates program assessments throughout the experience
  • Manages and updates supervised experiential learning site contracts, agreements and records
  • Represents the Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program at internal university meetings as assigned, and serves as the program's representative at medical, professional and other community organizations and events
  • Assists with departmental budget
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
  • Three or more years of professional experience, post-credentialing, in nutrition, dietetics or other related experience
  • Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration 
  • Active RI licensed dietitian/nutritionist (LDN) or ability to obtain licensure upon hire 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in dietetics, nutrition, applied nutrition or a related field of study from a regionally accredited institution, or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
