Summary

Leads and manages the daily functions of the Talent Advancement Program (TAP) by coordinating and monitoring staff and faculty participation, program scheduling, delivery of content and advising students.

The Talent Advancement Program is designed to help students create greater success in college and in life. Students selected for the program as part of their admission to JWU learn strategies for creating greater academic, professional and personal success.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Creates, manages and oversees programs and events for TAP students to promote student engagement, retention and course completion
  • Advises students on academic and financial challenges and assist them with identifying and utilizing available resources
  • Coordinates with faculty, admissions, and student services to provide support to students in TAP throughout the enrollment process
  • Manages and coordinates course training in addition to scheduling the delivery of TAP courses by faculty, co-facilitators and ambassadors
  • Attends events planned for TAP students such as retreats and seminars, in order to evaluate the program delivery and to implement changes, as needed
  • Prepares and monitors departmental budget
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working in education, counseling/advising, management or in other related work

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in education, counseling or a related field of study
  • One or more years of higher education experience working within the area of academic advising, academic counseling and retention
  • Commitment to supporting diverse populations
  • Ability to guide individuals toward future opportunities and successful completion of degree
