Summary

Provides strategic and operational leadership for the Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program. The director is responsible for the development, implementation, management, oversight and administration of the program. The director is responsible for achieving and maintaining program and discipline-specific accreditation as well as meeting all other applicable accreditation and licensing standards and adhering to university policies and practices.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and implements a graduate education program for clinical nutrition and dietetics students that continuously meets regional and programmatic accreditation standards and is in alignment with the university’s mission and strategic plan, in collaboration with faculty, administration and other colleges within the university
  • Develops and submits applications and other relevant documents and reports to ACEND to facilitate accreditation and maintains continued compliance with ACEND standards across all elements of the program
  • Leads and manages the Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program through program organization, administration, fiscal management, continuous review and analysis, planning, development and accreditation
  • Leads the program's faculty and staff in ongoing review and development of curriculum, program goals and objectives, program self-study and evaluation, and documents review processes accordingly
  • Facilitates timely submission of required documentation supporting student eligibility for Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam
  • Oversees the development and application of admissions, retention and completion policies and processes relating to the Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program including participation in student recruitment activities, advisement evaluation and counseling
  • Collaborates with university registrar to monitor degree related activities
  • Keeps abreast of changes in the field to track trends and make recommendations for changes or updates to the department functions
  • Teaches courses in the Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program and in the College of Health & Wellness
  • Recruits, recommends, hires, supervises, assesses and develops qualified full-time and part-time faculty to support the Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program
  • Represents the Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program at internal university meetings as assigned, and serves as the program's representative at medical, professional and other community organizations and events
  • Prepares and monitors departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the program's faculty and staff in activities that relate to the Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics Program, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job expectations, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate  
  • Three or more years of professional experience, post-credentialing, in nutrition, dietetics or other related experience
  • Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration 
  • Active RI licensed dietitian/nutritionist (LDN) or ability to obtain licensure upon hire 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned Doctorate in dietetics, nutrition, applied nutrition or a related field of study 

 

Please note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a 100 mile radius of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
