Summary


Patrols the campus and supervises the work of patrol officers assigned to duties in the operations and/or administrative services and assumes the duties and responsibilities of the shift supervisor or a specialized function to promote the protection and safety of the university community

Essential Job Functions

  • Conducts routine patrols of designated areas to verify that proper security methods are in place for protection of the university community
  • Investigates reports or other concerns for safety and security to promote a safe academic environment
  • Performs a specialized function, as assigned, to accomplish the efficient and effective execution of the departments purpose
  • Completes reports and follow-up investigations, approves subordinate paperwork and payroll data, and reviews recent activity
  • Assists with the administrative functions including access control, records management, parking, crime prevention and community outreach as necessary
  • Guides compliance activities for the various responsibilities of a campus security authority as defined by federal and state regulations and university policy
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Experience working in security or other related experience
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol (OCAT) (or equivalent), and Monadnock Expandable Baton certifications

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English

  • Ability to withstand working in outside weather conditions
  • Ability to operate a patrol vehicle at any time under any weather conditions


Preferred Qualifications

  • Law enforcement, military and/or security experience
  • Experience with emergency management and/or understanding of National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) operations
  • Experience with and/or understanding of Title IX, Clery Act, and privacy regulations
  • Experience conducting criminal or personnel policy investigations and investigative
    report writing
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management Systems (RMS) systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
