Leads universitywide efforts to provide vision, direction and leadership for the university’s library, and the culinary museum that align with the university’s mission, guiding principles and strategic plan

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and delivers a strategic plan for the university libraries, and the culinary museum, collaborating with faculty, staff and administrators to identify priorities, considering existing strengths and the changing nature of patron needs and the library field
  • Oversees the design, delivery and continuous improvement of library and culinary arts museum support programs for on-campus, online and virtual learning options
  • Builds and fosters a culture that embraces the Library as a central hub for academic learning, community building and student success
  • Provides leadership for the assessment of the effectiveness of the libraries and the culinary museum, including collecting data, monitoring and evaluating progress and recommending and implementing institutional practices to improve effectiveness on an on-going basis
  • Collaborates with other university departments on initiatives to support the teaching, scholarship/research and service roles of faculty
  • Collaborates with other university student support services and the Charlotte campus to provide joint programming
  • Provides leadership and resources and participates in several universitywide initiatives, including open educational resources (OER) and artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Analyzes facility needs and plans for facility modifications in an effort to maintain functional and adequate space for the university community related to the library and culinary arts museum
  • Coordinates outreach and programming efforts to help students develop research, critical analysis and information literacy skills
  • Prepares and monitors departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree
  • Moderate amount of experience managing academic libraries or related experience

 

Please Note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
