Summary

Serves as a relationship manager for assigned students to deliver a positive learning experience; advises, supports, and provides academic counsel to students from acceptance and initial enrollment through program completion

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides ongoing academic advising and counseling to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Assists students with course selection and registration, course waivers, withdrawals and course drops, and other academic-related administrative requests
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing contact with students through a variety of communication methods, including telephone, email, workshops and seminars, blogs, and social media sites
  • Answers customer questions in a professional and courteous manner; employs a collaborative approach to problem-solving questions or concerns from students
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative and cooperative relationships with staff, faculty, and other internal constituencies to resolve student issues related to enrollment in programs
  • Coordinates support for students with various university departments, including financial services, academic support, counseling services, etc.
  • Uses analytics data to track student progress and outcomes in courses; provides proactive outreach to students who appear to be experiencing difficulties
  • Conducts ongoing reviews of assigned students' academic progress and records, monitoring retention of assigned students against the university's retention goals; implements outreach and communications accordingly
  • Assists with implementing, monitoring, and measuring retention strategies for students; identifies opportunities for improvement in providing students with a positive student experience
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree
  • Experience working in academic advising or counseling in higher education, telemarketing or related experience

 

Please Note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
