Summary

Provides leadership and operational oversight for experiential education and career services programs, advancing student success, career readiness, corporate relations and employer engagement, while supporting students to gain relevant experience and transition to employment or continued education. Executes strategy in partnership with functional leaders to achieve measurable outcomes, setting campus goals aligned with university priorities while overseeing the effective delivery and resourcing of programs, services, and industry partnerships through data-informed decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops, oversees and evaluates experiential education and career services programs including internships, career advising, recruitment activities, program assessment, and employer engagement
  • Participates in universitywide experiential education and career services strategic planning and implementation, supporting alignment of campus and departmental programs with institutional priorities, standards, performance metrics and academic needs
  • Maintains the development and implementation of department policies, procedures and objectives in support of the university's strategic plan
  • Maintains data collection, records maintenance and reporting functions in support of university goals and needs
  • Supports campus leadership with annual year-end reporting and quarterly strategic planning update reports in an effort to communicate progress related to key performance indicators on campus
  • Oversees the development and implementation of training programs related to career advising, experiential education and employer relations
  • Manages and strengthens corporate and employer relationships at the campus and executive level, while contributing to the stewardship and expansion of universitywide industry collaborations
  • Collaborates with campus leadership to assess strategic partnerships and workforce development initiatives with key external organizations, employers and alumni, to drive student engagement, retention and advancement opportunities
  • Researches and maintains knowledge of national, state and local hiring practices, employment trends and other labor related matters
  • Leads comprehensive efforts to review employer services including on-campus recruiting, sponsor programs, student and alumni job posting site engagement, and career fairs
  • Prepares and monitors departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master's degree
  • Significant amount of experience working in higher education, career services, experiential education or other related experience

Qualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
