Manages all aspects of the operational functions of new student orientation and transition programs, including event logistics and venue operations


Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares and implements new student orientation and transition programs and events
  • Collaborates with internal departments and external vendors in planning, implementing and executing orientation and transition programs for students and parents
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for on-site support during new student orientation & transition programs, as well as manages program logistics universitywide and mitigates on-site issues for the duration of the program
  • Creates, implements and monitors social media platforms to encourage student engagement and participation in new student orientation and transition programs
  • Oversees the registration processes for the various orientation offerings including data import, data entry processes related to registration, coordinating the administrative operations, supporting students with registering, and training university employees on software use
  • Troubleshoots and resolves universitywide issues related to the registration system and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Manages assessment initiatives to document achievement of stated goals and learning outcomes, demonstrates accountability, describes the resulting changes in orientation programs and provides recommendations regarding future new student orientation and transition program offerings
  • Oversees department revenue sources and processes refunds to families universitywide, as needed
  • Serves on various committees and assists with planning and developing events for the annual family weekend, as well as oversees the logistics for the weekend, including the catering needs
  • Monitors the departmental budget
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working in student advising, program management, event planning, first year student programs or in other related work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in communications, counseling, event planning, student affairs administration, student development or a related field of study
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with database management (e.g. Banner, Slate, Access)
