Summary

The Associate Dean of the College of Business provides leadership and management for the college programs on the campus. The major responsibilities emphasize academic excellence, student enrollment, retention and graduation rates, external relationships that advance the goals of the college, excellence of programs through program delivery, fundraising, and the development and execution of a campus college plan that is aligned with the university’s strategic plan. The associate dean oversees administrative, operational and budgetary affairs, directs the academic programs, and fosters an environment of continuous improvement, innovation, and growth

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists with the creation and delivery of the strategic plan for the College of Business, as well as with other academic initiatives that support the university's mission, vision and strategic plan and campus priorities
  • Oversees the programs within the College of Business including academic, fiscal and physical environments in which academic programs are delivered
  • Monitors program quality and oversees implementation of best practices to maintain compliance with internal academic policies, program accreditation, and state licensing
  • Collaborates with university stakeholders to facilitate efficient and effective academic planning, delivery and assessment of programs
  • Oversees the student experience within the undergraduate and graduate programs for the College of Business, including admissions and retention efforts, student advising, experiential education and career outcomes
  • Serves on university committees and councils as needed
  • Manages the recruitment and hiring of full-time and adjunct faculty; oversees the schedules of faculty within the college
  • Helps identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with organizations, employers and industry to advance campus goals and initiatives that will elevate community prominence, increase enrollment and student engagement, and secure advancement opportunities
  • Collaborates with the campus president and the advancement team to secure external gifts and grants
  • Develops and maintains the college budget and participates in long-range financial planning of the college
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve capability and managing performance again job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
  • Moderate amount of experience working in higher education administration, academic leadership including supervision and mentoring of faculty or in other related work

 

Please Note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a 100 mile radius of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
