Summary

Performs preventative maintenance on university property and assets by responding to work order requests for repairs and maintenance to maintain university facilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Responds to work order requests for repairs and maintenance as assigned to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities on campus and provides recommendations for materials needed or modifications to maintenance performed based on existing conditions
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • Conducts routine building inspections to make sure the university equipment and systems are operating efficiently, submits work orders requests to address issues, as needed
  • Prepares facilities for special events
  • Shovels snow and applies salt, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Experience in general maintenance or in other related work
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Skills in one or more building trades
  • Applicant must be able to work safely with minimal supervision performing tasks related to the operation and repair of campus facilities
    • Physical Demands: Working from ladders or aerial lift devices, roof tops or catwalks. The ability to lift move & carry objects or tools, and working in teams move large equipment and furniture. Standing, kneeling, walking and climbing frequently
    • Work Environment: The work environment may include climate conditions of heightened heat or cold and inclement weather.
