Summary


Manages accounting work within the finance department from the initial recording through the reporting prepared for internal supervisory review

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages and conducts general accounting work, which may include but is not limited to contributions, grants, investments, fixed assets and taxation, and provides guidance, as necessary
  • Researches and gathers information, monitors Financial Accounting Standards Board pronouncements, and monitors changes in governmental regulations related to financial accounting to maintain accurate recording and reporting of financial information and to maintain compliance with regulations
  • Provides updates to staff on changes to financial recording and reporting rules and industry regulations
  • Assists with departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in public accounting, not-for-profit accounting or other related experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field of study
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Experience using Oracle Cloud
