Insurance and Risk Manager

Summary

Manages insurance programs. Manages institutional liability exposures through proactive loss prevention and enterprise risk management (ERM) practices.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages the university’s insurance programs, including policy procurement, policy renewal, and negotiations with brokers and carriers
  • Submits claims and coordinates with brokers, claim adjusters and carriers
  • Reviews broker and carrier contracts with the Office of the General Counsel and reviews third-party contract insurance provisions for compliance
  • Supports institutional risk mitigation functions, including carrier-recommended or required trainings and related functions
  • Supports institutional ERM initiatives through risk identification, analysis and reporting
  • Conducts ongoing department risk assessments and provides recommendations to mitigate risks
  • Contributes to business continuity and emergency preparedness planning
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in insurance and risk management in academia or other industry related experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in business or a related field of study

 

Compensation:  $110,000 - $113,000/annualized

Preference shall be given to qualified candidates who live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
