Summary

Develops training curriculum and facilitates training programs for professional and student staff, as well as, oversees recruitment and selection of professional and student staffing to meet residential education objectives in support of the university’s mission

Essential Job Functions

  • Designs, coordinates and facilitates the training and orientation programs for department staff
  • Creates the lesson plans to meet departmental objectives, as well as develops evaluations to measure the program's effectiveness
  • Assists with the development and implementation of student programming activities in an effort to support student retention, as well as develops metrics to evaluate program success
  • Assists with the development and implementation of a residential life learning model, including analyzing program effectiveness and recommending program improvements, as necessary
  • Manages the recruitment and selection of staff in residence halls including the development of recruitment campaign materials and delivering informational sessions
  • Coordinates the application, interview and review process; as well as leads the selection and placement of staff
  • Provides training and support for professional staff regarding matters of student staff discipline
  • Develops and coordinates the performance review process of student staff
  • Maintains and updates policy and protocol manuals for both student and professional departmental staff
  • Serves as a hearing officer for the office of student conduct, oversees and participates in the adjudication of student conduct cases related to residence halls, as directed
  • Provides reports on staffing trends and statistics
  • Participates in the department's on-call rotation
  • Represents the department on various university committees
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of department budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Supervises and manages student employees to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master's degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in training/teaching or other related experience

Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
