Quantitative Methods Student Support Specialist

Assists faculty and students in improving the quality of student’s quantitative assignments through the implementation of quantitatively-focused support initiatives


Essential Job Functions

  • Facilitates the development of student quantitative skills through a variety of mediums (e.g. phone, email, web conferencing) by providing instruction on how to complete quantitatively-focused assignments in math, accounting, finance, Excel, and related topics
  • Creates, implements and maintains various support resources, services and workshops that teach focus on quantitatively-focused course topics, including the creation of web-based, video, and media resources
  • Collaborates with faculty and online instructional designers on the development and evaluation of quantitatively-focused assignments
  • Maintains student records per department guidelines
  • Develops and facilitates professional development workshops and resources for faculty
  • Collaborates with the instructional design team and makes recommendations for changes or enhancements to online courses based on challenges identified when working with students
  • Collaborates and coordinates with online academic advisors and online admissions associates on how to advise students of available services and refer them to these services, as necessary
  • Promotes student support services to online faculty and students
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in math, accounting, finance or a related field of study
  • Moderate amount of experience teaching or tutoring students in math, accounting, finance, Excel or in other related work
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or greater in math, accounting, finance or a related area of study
  • Experience working with adult students
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience working with students via email, phone, and/or web conferencing
  • Experience using technology to develop and deliver instructional materials to students


Please Note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a 100 mile radius of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
