Faculty-Adjunct-MS Clinical Mental Health & Addiction Counseling

Summary

Prepares and delivers relevant course content using a variety of teaching methods and assessments that support student learning. Ensures that students achieve and demonstrate mastery of stated learning objectives.

Teaches courses in the MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Addiction Counseling programs as assigned.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Teaches assigned course(s) by delivering appropriate course content to students, preparing course materials and lesson plans, and addressing students questions and/or concerns
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement and performance in accordance with university policies and procedures
  • Distributes to each student, in each course, a university approved syllabus that includes course objectives, texts, attendance policy and materials required for course and evaluation criteria
  • Communicates early with any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counseling
  • Refers students to appropriate university sources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career development, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master's degree in counseling or a related field from a regionally accredited institution or other appropriate accreditation as determined by JWU
  • Demonstrated specialized knowledge in the theory, skills, and pedagogy of the counseling course content
  • Sustained memberships in professional counseling organizations
  • Successful candidates must be committed to work effectively with diverse student populations

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in counseling or a related field from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Sustained evidence of professional development, professional service and advocacy in counseling

Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
