Essential Job Functions
- Assists the medical provider by obtaining vital signs and preparing students to be treated
- Processes and reviews student immunization records; documents clinical visits in the university’s electronic medical record system in accordance with department of health regulations and university policy
- Performs basic laboratory testing such as pregnancy testing, urinalysis, and coordinates laboratory specimen pick-up
- Administers oral over the counter medications as ordered by the medical provider
- Orders medical and office materials and supplies necessary to sustain a proper functioning health services department
- Maintains sanitation and inventory of the exam rooms, lab environment and medical instruments
- Refers questions requesting health advice to the medical provider, and schedules students for medical appointments; as needed
- Greets and assists students, visitors and university employees as appropriate; answers incoming telephone calls, resolving complex and varied concerns or referring them to other staff members or departments; as necessary
- Reports care results to Registered Nurse (RN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in a timely manner
- Assists with educational programs that teach students about health-related matters and promote healthy practices on campus
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Experience working in medical office assisting or in other related work
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Ability to work weekdays 8am-4pm with occasional flex hours to work campus outreach events
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant (MA) or Medical Office Assistant (MOA) certification
Please Note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
