Essential Job Functions

  • Processes payroll for scheduled pay periods and maintains appropriate payroll records
  • Compiles, verifies, maintains, and updates payroll, benefits (e.g. insurance coverage) deductions, rate changes, and other employee payroll data
  • Prepares input forms, enters data into the payroll system, and compiles other periodic reports on earnings, taxes, and deductions
  • Processes payments to external vendors and generates re-issued payroll checks
  • Compiles employee demographic and wage data and completes various statistical surveys, including IPEDS reporting
  • Provides wage and employee verification information to state and federal agencies (e.g. Department of Labor, Social Security Administration), and other outside entities (banks, housing, etc.) as requested and files forms in a timely manner
  • Assists with payroll accounting functions, including payroll audits, and
  • the requisition process for various invoices or requests to contribute accounting data towards creating the next fiscal year budget
  • Researches and responds to legal requests for subpoenaed documents and other employee-related information, as well as information relating to garnishment orders
  • Responds to employee, managers, and external party inquiries related to payroll (e.g. paid time off balances, time record discrepancies, employment verification) and completes payroll investigations in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintains employee attendance and paid time off records in compliance with university policy
  • Generates various payroll reports, as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree or a combination of education/certification(s) and/or experience suitable for the position
  • Moderate amount of experience working in payroll, general accounting or other related experience

 

Please note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
