Summary

Oversees campus culinary academic operations for the college

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans, organizes and directs the day-to-day academic operations of the college
  • Coordinates the preparation and dissemination of the master faculty schedule for both day and continuing education programs, including authorizing additional faculty responsibilities
  • Coordinates the activities of the department chairs with the culinary operations and purchasing teams to maintain seamless educational experiences for students and faculty
  • Provides oversight and support for department chairs and faculty in curriculum delivery  to  maintain academic consistency and the achievement of student learning outcomes 
  • Serves as a liaison between culinary operations, culinary purchasing and culinary academics to operationalize curriculum and address faculty and administrative concerns
  • Oversees and coordinates daily faculty and lab activities and evaluates faculty requests for various classroom materials; makes recommendations for capital projects for culinary labs
  • Facilitates faculty meetings, and administrative operational meetings
  • Works with other university departments to facilitate programming for the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Participates in the student grievance resolution process
  • Assists with the departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops department employees, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or other appropriate accreditation as determined by JWU
  • Moderate amount of experience working in faculty and academic administration positions

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work and leadership experience in the food service industry (e.g. chef, manager)
