Oversees the campus life functional areas related to residential life, student involvement & leadership, student conduct and new student orientation, as well as provides vision and leadership for the direction and management of these areas campuswide


Essential Job Functions

  • Provides strategic direction and comprehensive management for the areas of residential life, student involvement & leadership, student conduct and new student orientation
  • Oversees and directly assists the housing placement process for on-campus residence halls
  • Leads the area of student conduct campuswide providing direction and oversight to managing a consistent, effective and responsive conduct process and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations
  • Collaborates with functional leaders to create and conduct an assessment program for campus life and utilizes the data collected to develop policies and practices for the functional areas and define how campus life will contribute to the strategic plan and future regional accreditations
  • Develops and maintains programs to strengthen student engagement campuswide 
  • Assists with on-call emergencies in the residence halls and responds appropriately and promptly to crisis situations
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of department budgets 
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree
  • Significant amount of experience working in student affairs, higher education or in other related work


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in student affairs or a related field of study
  • Five or more years of experience working in student affairs
  • Experience with student conduct or Title IX work
  • Familiarity with software systems such as StarRez, Mavient and Banner
